Collecting For 10 Years

I collect vinyl because, for me, it is the purest format for music; I love the crackle and pops they add to the listening experience. Vinyl has been around since the 1800’s and is still going strong.  Vinyl has evolved from just the plain black circle, it now comes in so many awesome colors and shapes. Music has always been in my life, and so has vinyl and the turntable. The very first albums I bought with my own money were the soundtrack to Grease and ELO’s Out of the blue. I hope someday my son will grow to appreciate the vinyl format and not sell my collection. Haha

There is something so therapeutic in digging for vinyl. The thrill of the hunt, the joy and excitement of finding that one album you have been searching for.  I still prefer to buy from record shops.  I’ve meet some of the coolest people and heard some of the best concert and vinyl stories. My collection covers all genres; my favorites being Led Zeppelin, Deftones, Otis Redding and Johnny Cash to name a few.  45s are my favorites, although the 10s are high on my radar when digging. The sound, the places music takes you, and the memories music gives you, these are the reasons I love and collect vinyl.
